Wamego has several park locations, offering a variety of amenities for both active and passive recreation. The City’s 62 acres of developed park land situated at six sites, plus the 21-acre Wamego City Cemetery are all maintained by the Parks and Cemetery Department. In addition, employees in this department trim street trees for greater visibility to motorists and pedestrians, and maintain the numerous planters downtown, to provide a more attractive appearance for residents and visitors alike.

Riverfront Park
Riverfront Park is located immediately west of the Lincoln Avenue (K-99) bridge over the Kansas River, but is reached from Elm Street, one block west via Valley Street. The park’s boat ramp provides much needed access to the river. Plenty of parking and turn-around space is available. Restrooms will soon be completed.
Pennyland Park
Pennyland Park is tucked away behind homes east of Walnut Street, just north of 8th St. The park affords a tranquil setting for a stroll on the paved walking trail, and also features a disc golf course.
Railroad Park
Railroad Park is a small but beautifully maintained park in the heart of downtown Wamego, at 4th and Lincoln, right beside the Union Pacific tracks. A U.P.R.R. caboose here acknowledges the role the railroad has paid in Wamego’s history.
Morton Park
Morton Park is located at the corner of Parkview Drive and 6th Street. Directly in the middle of a family friendly neighborhood there is a patch of wide-open spaces for the community to enjoy. Located at the bottom of the hill is a small basketball goal to be used by the public.
City Cemetery
The City Parks Department also maintains the grounds at the Cemetery. For Cemetery Lot Purchases or research appointments Contact the City.
